Splash Select midseason report

Just crunched the numbers and it looks like Jackie Wills is the Splash Select winner for week 6 in a tiebreaker. Along with Robert Ferrero, Jackie becomes our second two-time winner of the weekly prize, a $10 gift certificate to All Sports Grill & Bar and a case of WiredX Energy Drinks donated by the Odom Corporation.
It’s worth noting at our halfway point here that the past three weeks have been decided by tiebreakers that really went back to a pick made in week 3. According to the contest rules, the first tiebreaker is based on overall record guessing games featuring Central Valley High School. Jackie Wills (along with last week’s winner, Jackie Chalmers) is one of just a handful of people who picked CV to knock off defending state champion Lewis & Clark in week 3, keeping her record in games featuring CV like the school’s football team itself, a perfect 6-0.
In this case, as we posted at the start of the contest, picking the “home team” is paying dividends. But will the trend continue when CV hosts undefeated Ferris Friday night?
In other Splash Select news, there are 20 Splash Connect members within six games of our wire-to-wire leader, Robert Ferrero. As with the Splash Connect standings we print in The Splash each week, this doesn’t include the advertisers playing for different stakes against Sports Editor Chad Kimberley. They have their own leaderboard. Anyway, that means at least 20 people have a realistic shot (need to make up a game a week over the course of the rest of the season) at the grand prize: $100 gift certificate to Great Harvest Bread Co.
