Thanks to all who made library ‘Garden Party' a success
The Friends of the Library's seventh annual fundraiser, "A Garden Party," was enjoyed by all this past Saturday. Attendees from the community joined together to enjoy wonderful food, conversation about their tea cup and the great speakers.

Colleen Snow and Bridget Piper gave a presentation on the history and restoration of the Moore-Turner Heritage Gardens in Spokane followed by a presentation by Carol Newcomb of the Northland Rosarium on "own root" roses.

Friends of the Liberty Lake Library wants to thank the sponsors of the event: Bernardo Wills Architects, $300; and Greenstone Development for the use of the facility. The sponsors will be given certificates of support for their sponsorship. Ellen Martin Bernardo was also recognized for her support of the tea by hosting tables, contributing to the silent auction and forever supporting the Friends event.

Barbara Hoisington, the featured artist who created the artwork for the theme of the event, "A Garden Party," was recognized because of her contribution of the original watercolor. Her original painting was donated for the silent auction, and it was used for the programs, tickets and advertising of the event. The Friends of the Liberty Lake Municipal Library recognized Barbara as an honorary "Corporate Friend 2011" of the library for her gracious contribution.

The Friends of the Library would also like to thank those who donated to the silent auction. The generosity of those who contributed helped to make the tea another success. Thanks to the servers for a job well done.  Friends is very appreciative of the support by our community. Thanks to all!

Well-deserved award reflects community's outstanding library
When you think of a community center as a gathering place for every member of the community, you would be thinking about our Liberty Lake Municipal Library.

Recently, our library director, Pamela Mogen, received the prestigious award in Yakima from the Washington Library Association. She was recognized for her outstanding contributions for improving library services.

Please help me congratulate Pamela for thinking outside the box and bringing many events, resources and creative energy to our community.

• We are now bringing library books and resources to home-bound residents with the partnerships of our library and SCOPE volunteers.

• Our Jobs and Career Center is  offering classes and resources to our local businesses and residents to help with promotions and gainful employment.

• We have gone virtual with downloadable books, tutoring and finding out our family lineage history.

• Community events such as Halloween parties, the Edible Book Contest, tea parties, art exhibits and book clubs, just to name a few, are available to all.

If you didn't have the chance to attend the annual Friends of the Library Garden Party on Saturday, you missed something spectacular. Thanks to the many incredible volunteers for making it happen. Join us next year and help to support our library! The services being provided by your community center/library help to stretch your imagination and give you resources at your fingertips.

Congratulations, Pamela, your recognition is well deserved!
