The lodge of the Signal Point Ski Resort is shown in this circa 1940s photo. The ski area, which featured two rope toes, was located on the east slope shared by Signal Point and Big Rock, the commonly used names for two peaks that can be seen on Liberty Lake’s eastern horizon. Another even closer ski area — called Holiday Hills — operated in the 1970s on the slopes of what is known today as Legacy Ridge. The Splash will be featuring historical photos of Liberty Lake featuring wintry scenes in the coming weeks. Do you have a photo or memory to share — perhaps from the famously snowy winter of 1968-69? Send it — or any other items featuring Liberty Lake history — to editor@libertylakesplash.com, mail it to PO Box 363, Liberty Lake, WA 99019, or stop by our office at 2310 N. Molter Road, Suite 305.
