Campaign kick-off rally tonight
A kickoff rally for the "Vote Yes for Central Valley Schools" will be held 6:30 p.m. today (Jan. 6) at CenterPlace at Mirabeau Point Park, 2426 N. Discovery Place in Spokane Valley. Attendees can learn more about the construction bond package and sign up to help with campaign activities. Parents and community members are invited to attend.

Local moms invited to group
Moms & Friends of Liberty Lake are looking for other working and stay-at-home mothers to join their group.

Current members will be at Starbucks, 1233 N. Liberty Lake Road, at 1 p.m. Sunday to discuss events and details about the group. The group has weekly play dates, monthly mom's night out, family nights out, couples' nights out and more.

Kiwanis to hear about CV bond
The public is invited to hear Central Valley Superintendent Ben Small speak about the CV bond issue during the Liberty Lake Kiwanis meeting on Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. at City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista.

Library offers reading program during winter months
The Liberty Lake Municipal Library is holding a winter reading program beginning this week until March 31 for all ages.

Family readers or beginning independent readers can receive stickers for different types of books read. Older participants who read three books are eligible to win a chance at a Barnes & Noble gift card or other cold-weather treats.

Volunteers invited to meeting for local Relay for Life event
Local residents interested in starting a new Relay for Life event in Liberty Lake are invited to attend an informational meeting on Jan. 13th at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at Liberty Lake Municipal Library, 23123 E. Mission Avenue.

A representative from American Cancer Society will do a presentation about Relay for Life and see if there are volunteers interested in either being on the committee or putting together a team.

Kiwanis hosts local attorney
The public is invited to the Liberty Lake Kiwanis meeting on Jan. 19 at 6:45 a.m. at City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista. The group is hosting Attorney Garrett Hall of Hall Law Office, who will discuss issues regarding trusts and estate planning.

City hosts Senior Lunch Program
The Senior Lunch Program in Liberty Lake is served Mondays and Wednesdays. Seniors age 60 and older are invited at 11 a.m. at Liberty Lake City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista Drive. The recommended donation is $3.50.

LL Poetry Club invites poets
New, seasoned and striving poets are welcome to come read, listen and enjoy at the monthly Liberty Lake Poetry Club meetings. The club gathers at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month at the Liberty Lake Municipal Library.

Rotary in need of quilters
Liberty Lake Centennial Rotary Club is looking for quilters to help supply quilts to children going through surgery.

FOPP looking for volunteers
Friends of Pavillion Park has volunteer opportunities for concert event positions, including helping with publicity and event setup and tear down.

Friends of Pavillion Park meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month and produces the Summer Concert Series, Outdoor Cinema, Liberty Lake Loop Fun Run, Holiday Ball and awards college scholarships each year.

A.R.M.S. (Abuse Recovery Ministry Services) offers free, confidential, weekly classes in Liberty Lake to help victims of domestic violence and abuse. For more information, call 484-0600 (calls are confidential).

Parenting forum to meet
Spokane Valley's Mindful Mamas is holding a parenting forum on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.

The free forum meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Liberty Lake Municipal Library's meeting room, 23123 E. Mission Ave.

Toastmasters seeking members
Liberty Lake Toastmasters meets weekly from 5:45 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Denny Ashlock building, 22510 E. Mission Ave.

Guests are welcome to learn more about Toastmasters, gain confidence in public speaking in a safe environment and develop better communication skills.

LL police offer car seat checks
The Liberty Lake Police Department provides free car seat inspections by appointment.

Residents can contact Officer Erin Lance, who is a certified child safety passenger technician, to inspect child car seats and answer questions about proper installation techniques.
