TierPoint building third data center

Liberty Lake-based data center TierPoint announced recently it has begun work on an $8.2 million center, its third in the area.
TierPoint 3 will be completed by next spring, according to a company news release. TierPoint operates two other data centers in its main building at 23403 E. Mission Ave.
The new location, which will include roughly 10,000 square feet, will be several blocks to the west.
The data center will capitalize on a major innovation: a cooling system that will use underground water to cool the building's operations room.
The system, which has state and city approval, will bring water into the building and will return it to the aquifer, with no consumption, evaporation or contamination, according to the company.
The energy saved could power 70 residential homes for a year, the company estimates.

"We are excited to lead the way here in Spokane and the Pacific Northwest," Octavio Morales, a company partner, said in the news release.
