Domestic trouble - Police responded Aug. 30 to the report of a domestic violence incident between a mother and son at 22809 E. Country Vista Drive. The mother told police her son was throwing and breaking things in the apartment, but police found that nothing was broken and no crime committed. Later that evening, police again were called to the apartment after the mother reported her son was threatening to harm himself. Officers found the son running through a park near the apartment complex and detained him after a foot pursuit. He was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center for a mental evaluation.

Accident - Police responded Aug. 31 to a two-car, minor-injury car accident at Appleway and Signal Road.

Controlled substance - A 28-year-old Liberty Lake man was arrested Sept. 2 for possession of a controlled substance. A citizen flagged down an officer in the area of Liberty Lake Road and Appleway to report a possible drunken driver. The officer found the vehicle driving 50 mph south on Liberty Lake Road, which is a 35-mph zone. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it turned on Sprague, drove into the oncoming lane of travel and then turned quickly onto Garry Road and stopped in a residential driveway. Police arrested the driver and found several schedule III and IV narcotic medications. A driving under the influence charge is pending, based on toxicology results, police said.

Stolen vehicle - A victim reported to police Sept. 2 that her vehicle parked in her garage on the 400 block of North Timberfield was stolen.

Business theft - Police received a report Sept. 4 of a theft on the 21300 block of East Mission at Spokane Kia. The complainant told police two males in different vehicles came to the lot and stole tires and wheels from the back of the store in a fenced area. The complainant provided police with license plate numbers and descriptions of the vehicles. Police say the license plates are connected to a Spokane Valley address. Police are continuing the investigation.

Gas siphoning - Police are investigating a report from Spokane Valley Fire District Station 3 on Harvard Road involving gas siphoning from fire personnel's personal vehicles over the last few months. The most recent thefts occurred Sept. 2 and 3.

Drugs - Police arrested a 19-year-old Spokane Valley man Sept. 5 on the 2200 block of North Harvard Road for marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man initially was stopped for driving 50 mph in a 35-mph zone on Harvard Road. The officer reportedly could smell marijuana, and the driver admitted having the drug in his vehicle and handed the officer a bag of marijuana. He also handed over a smoking device and additional marijuana when questioned further, police said.
