A current survey on The Splash website asks readers to weigh in on annexation. Eight people took the survey in its first few days. The feedback so far:
Do you believe that, in the next 10 years, the unincorporated area surrounding Liberty Lake should be annexed into the city? (Select answer that best describes your opinion.)
0: Yes, we are one community and we should be united under one government structure
1: Yes, the unincorporated community would benefit from increases services such as police presence, snow plowing and local control
5: No, this has always been about protecting the lake, and remaining unincorporated continues to be the best way to do that
1: No, the city of Liberty Lake still hasn't been able to show it would be a trustworthy and beneficial partner Advertisement

1: I have no earthly clue
Explain your answer or give your own viewpoint if the options above don't adequately capture your opinion.
• The city's building and planning department would likely fill the lake with cement. They certainly like to concrete everything else!
• My answer is no, but the choices available do not reflect my reasoning. The "Lakers" want what is best for them, not the environment, or the lake, or the watershed - and they want it at someone else's expense! All area residents pay for lake management, an item hidden in the LLSWD's budget. When it was thought that being a part of the county was best for them, they vehemently opposed having anything to do with the city. When the county made a decision they did not favor, they want to explore taking over the city. No, thank you.
• Intense development is supposed to occur in cities; lakes cannot be protected with intense development. We are one community but need different government due to the rules of the GMA. Why do you say "unincorporated Liberty Lake" - the county government structure was here before the city?
• Lake protection is excellent - no need to mess with success
• I support the Lancasters and their zoning exception. It should remain just that - an exception.
Where do you live?
2: City of Liberty Lake
6: Unincorporated Liberty Lake
