That's right, 2009 has been the Year of the Moose around these parts. And boy have you have let us know! The voice mails, the e-mails; the bulls, the calves the females. Moose sightings galore!

You've told us of the "Moose Lockdown" at Liberty Lake Elementary School (note to moose everywhere: your popularity among the ever-important elementary school demographic will plummet if you're the cause of another canceled recess).

Many sightings have been captured by cell phone cameras. Today's cell phones can provide photo quality that - dare we say - is on par with any snapshot you'd find in a Sasquatch museum. OK, so some of the photos you sent us were unusable, but at left are the best of the best.

A pictorial tour of moose life in Liberty Lake:

A: Taking in the view on Legacy Ridge.
B: Walking the front nine at MeadowWood Golf Course.
C: Crossing the ice on the inlet after snoozing in a residential yard.
D: Proving true Liberty Lake assimilation by approaching the Starbucks drive-thru.

E: Checking in after a long day at the Cedars Inn, where employees say "Boris" sleeps just far enough away from the window (5 feet) to avoid being asked for his credit card.

Ripples thanks Lisa Rowe, Dana Hilpert, Kirsten Carlile, Brad Lees, Stephanie Ice and the many other e-mailers and callers for sharing their moose sightings and experiences with The Splash.
