SPEND REBATES THIS WEEKEND
We received an e-mail forward passed on by Liberty Lake Community Yard Sale Chair Ann Weiler about how to use those rebate checks from Uncle Sam to actually keep in the country and stimulate the local economy.

The punchline: "The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at garage sales since those are the only businesses still in the U.S."

Ripples word of advice: When carting the kids around Saturday, just don't tell little Joey he has a $300 child credit to blow on old Pokemon cards and Hungry Hungry Hippo.

LL MAN ARRESTED
A 33-year-old Liberty Lake man was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting a Wal-Mart security employee at the Spokane Valley store.

The security employee stopped a woman for shoplifting outside the store and was escorting her back inside as she resisted.

Police said the Liberty Lake man approached the security officer, shoved him in the back and the shoplifter escaped.

Police said the Liberty Lake man acknowledged the security officer had identified himself as security before the assault, but that he didn't believe him.
