The following incidents, arrests, calls for service and citations were reported by the Liberty Lake Police Department May 7-14.

Incidents and arrests

DUI - A 28-year-old Liberty Lake man was arrested at 7:45 p.m. May 7 at the 22800 block of Country Vista Drive for DUI and Hit and Run. Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the apartment complex for a complaint of a golf cart that had struck a parked vehicle, causing damage before driving off. During the investigation, officers were able to locate the golf cart parked in the lot. Officers then located a man in the area who appeared to be intoxicated. He was detained while the investigation continued. Witnesses were able to identify the subject driving the golf car when it struck the car.  The subject was booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Domestic violence - A warrant for a 21-year-old Liberty Lake man was issued for a domestic violence assault at the 1700 block of North Cavalier Road. LLPD was dispatched to the incident at 5:35 p.m. May 7 and the suspect in the case fled prior to law enforcement arriving. The victim was transported to the hospital for a fractured ankle that occurred during the altercation. Officers were unable to locate the suspect, but did talk to him on the phone. The suspect refused to meet with the officers.

Vehicle theft - At 8:30 a.m. May 9, LLPD received report of a motor vehicle theft at the 21600 block of Bitterroot Lane. The complainant said he parked his vehicle the night before at about 9:30 p.m. He noticed the vehicle missing at about 6:30 a.m. The vehicle was recovered later outside of the area and returned to the owner.

Drug possession - A 20-year-old Liberty Lake man was arrested at 7:55 p.m. May 7 at Signal Road and Appleway Avenue for driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was initially stopped for a speeding violation and then arrested for driving with a suspended license. While searching the subject, the officer located a lighter with what looked like marijuana residue on the bottom of it. The officer asked for permission to search the vehicle, and the subject consented. The officer located a smoking device that contained marijuana and a portable scale that contained marijuana residue on it.

Outstanding warrant - A 40-year-old Otis Orchards man was arrested at 3:10 p.m. May 8 at the 2000 block of North Harvard Road for an outstanding arrest warrant out of Spokane County Superior Court. He was booked into the county jail. 

Theft - At 9:50 a.m. May 9, LLPD received a report of theft of appliances from a vacant foreclosed house at the 1200 block of North Homestead Drive.

Trespassing - A 19-year-old Post Falls woman was arrested at 6:30 p.m. May 9 at the 1800 block of North Winchester Street for trespassing. A warrant for the same offense was also requested for a 28-year-old male. Officers were dispatched to the area for a suspicious persons trespassing call. The complainant observed a male and female subject climb over a backyard fence and into an adjoining yard, then run from the residence. The complainant also reported that the suspects had thrown some sort of bag over a fence prior to fleeing. Officers located the female subject. When questioned, she provided the name of the male subject that was with her. When checking the male subject's name through police databases, police learned he has had a lengthy criminal history for property crimes in the region. Officers were not able to locate the male subject.  The recovered bag contained numerous burglary tools. 

Residential burglary - At 7:15 a.m. May 10, LLPD received report of a residential burglary at the 1100 block of North Winchester Lane. The complainants reported that sometime overnight, unknown suspects entered their home through the open garage door and removed an Apple Macbook Pro computer, a Cius tablet and a black purse. The case was assigned to Detective Ray Bourgeois for follow-up.

Welfare check - At 5:20 p.m. May 9, LLPD was dispatched to a welfare check at the 22800 block of Country Vista Drive. The complainant, calling from Alaska, told the officer she had not heard from her daughter in several days and was concerned. The officer located the daughter who was safe and well. 

Theft - At 4:30 p.m. May 11, LLPD received a report of a theft from a construction area near Country Vista Road and Bergamot Avenue. The contractor reported that sometime overnight, unknown suspects took an aluminum catwalk valued at $1,500 from the construction area.

Malicious mischief - At 10 a.m. May 11, LLPD received a report of a malicious mischief incident at the 23000 block of East Valleyway Avenue. The complainant reported that sometime during the evening, his fence had been spray-painted.

Suspicious circumstances - At 10:15 p.m. May 11, LLPD received report of a suspicious circumstances incident at the 1600 block of North Oakland Road. The complainant reported that someone was pounding on the front door of the house and then a group of teenagers was seen running away toward Country Vista Drive. The officer located a group. The group said that they were walking home from a friend's house when one of the people in the group pounded on the complainant's door and fled. The officer gave the subjects a warning. He explained the dangers of that type of activity and told them to go home for the evening.

Drug possession - A 50-year-old Spokane Valley man was arrested at 12:50 p.m. May 11 at the 1400 block of North Liberty Lake Road for possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine. The subject was initially contacted on a traffic stop for expired vehicle registration, and during the stop he was arrested for driving with a suspended license. While searching the subject, the officer located marijuana and several small bundles of an unidentified brown tar-like substance.  During the search of the vehicle, the officers located needles, zip lock baggies, a digital scale, additional marijuana, and a baggy that contained a white crystal substance that tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. 

Domestic violence - At 5:35 p.m. May 12, LLPD was advised of a domestic violence situation where a witness was reporting that a male driver was hitting a female passenger in the car as the vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-90 near Liberty Lake. Officers checked the area but could not locate the vehicle.  The registration on the vehicle returned to a Spokane address. The officers requested Spokane Police check the address on the registration.
