Cheer 1: Bryce Kananowicz, Swimmer
Kananowicz, a 14-year-old Liberty Lake resident, came in first place overall in the recent 16th annual Long Bridge Swim in Sandpoint, Idaho with a time of 33:53, nearly three minutes ahead of the second-place finisher. The race, which covers 1.76 miles and takes swimmers across Lake Pend Oreille, helps raise money to support swim lessons for kids and adults.
Cheer 2: Sidney Orr, Swimmer
Orr, a 13-year-old Liberty Lake resident, was the third female to come across the finish line at the Long Bridge Swim and also came in 22nd place overall with a time of 42:26. The race featured nearly 700 swimmers from all over the country and is held the first Saturday of August each year.
Cheer 3: The Spokane Shock, Arena Football
The Shock, playing their first season in the Arena Football League (the top level of Arena Football), shocked the league by recently taking home the title with a 69-57 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm in ArenaBowl XXIII.
