The County Sheriff's Office released this funny press release about using chains during winter driving.

Maybe he just moved here from the Sunshine State, or maybe he was a new age guy driving an old age car. At any rate, he wasn’t going anywhere.
Sheriff’s fleet manager Rick Dettwiler was on the city’s north side earlier this week when he encountered a man trying to get his mid-90’s Ford Thunderbird unstuck in the snow.
Dettwiler got behind the car and began to push as the driver uselessly spun the back tires.
That’s when Dettwiler, a life-long car aficionado and mechanic, noticed that the young driver had put chains on the front tires of the rear-wheel-drive T-Bird.
That should give him great steering capability at zero velocity.
Not that this scenario is that unusual. Another sheriff’s mechanic, Craig Olson, watched the driver of a Ford Taurus trying to claw his way up Monroe Street with chains on the back tires of the front-wheel-drive car.
The sheriff’s staffers offered this piece of safe winter driving advice. Move your car onto a snowy street, give it just a bit too much gas and then put the chains on the wheels that spin.
